Center for Peace and Transcultural Communication and the Post-Conflict Research Center based in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina on (January 28, 2022) signed a memorandum of understanding.
Both centers in the near future will closely cooperate in the fields of peace-building, security, dialogue and conflict resolution.
The heads of the respective centers, Mrs. Velma Šarić who is also the editor-in-chief of the Balkan Diskurs platform and Mr.Sc. Donika Kamberi agreed that special attention should be paid to joint publications on issues of security, human rights and peace-building, in this regard they agreed to organize workshops, seminars and conferences, both parties agreed that they will carry out their activities based on their available resources and potential.
According to Mr.Sc. Donika Kamberi, Director of the Center for Peace and Transcultural Communication, “this memorandum lays the foundations for a successful cooperation the vision we have goes beyond the points mentioned in the agreement, this memorandum also paves the way for different activities and the main focus will be peace building”.
“The historical context, and especially the common past whose nuances are still present today in our societies is the best lesson we can learn to establish peace and promote it unequivocally through dialogue, education and training, the main beneficiaries of this memorandum will be the students of social sciences, we are waiting from them to establish social justice as well as the resolution of conflicts through dialogue as the only way that enables lasting peace in our societies with evident ethnic, religious and cultural differences, problems which are inherited from the past, with this memorandum we pave the way for a deeper regional cooperation in the above-mentioned areas, said Mr.Sc. Donika Kamberi.
In this regard Ms.Velma Šarić the Director of the Post-Conflict Research Center said that “Since our establishment in 2011, PCRC has based its work on successful partnerships and collaborations. As a research center and nonprofit organization, we’re committed to serving as a bridge between civil society and academia to bolster knowledge of successes and failures in the field of peace building and conflict prevention, promote innovation, advance understanding, and inform best practices. Our newly established partnership with Center for Peace and Transcultural Communication contributes to this idea, especially since it furthers our network of regional partners in the Western Balkans and contributes to promoting local-level democratization initiatives, particularly those that connect young people to local civil society”.
